RVS welcomes your input as we decide which students will attend the school on Powell Street in Cochrane.
RVS re-acquired the school in September 2022 from the Calgary Catholic School Division which had operated the Holy Spirit School at this location for many years. The school currently has space for 330 students. It's in need of a little facelift - our plan is to welcome students in September 2023, once renovations approved by the Board of Trustees (the Board) are complete.
A number of options for the accommodation plan will be available on RVS’ new online engagement platform, RVSEngage.com, under Documents beginning Jan. 27.
Parents/guardians and community members are invited to provide their input at two meetings, Jan. 26 and March 2.
- Public Meeting #1 - Jan. 26, 2023 - Manachaban School, 724 Chiniki Drive, Cochrane - 6:30-8:30 p.m. RVS administration will provide information about current enrolments in Cochrane schools and information about the school facility, describe preliminary options for who might attend the school, and collect public feedback.
- Public Meeting #2 - March 2, 2023 - Mitford School/Cochrane Christian Academy, 110 Quigley Drive, Cochrane - 6:30-8:30 p.m. RVS administration will provide updated information about the school and options under consideration and collect public feedback.
If you're unable to attend, you can also provide your feedback online beginning Jan. 27. All feedback must be received by March 23, 2023, at 5 p.m. The Board will use this information to help determine an accommodation plan for the school.
Stakeholders have the opportunity to present to the Board at its public meeting, March 23 at 10 a.m. (please see Board Policy 7 - Board Operations (Section 7)).

The Board will consider the accommodation plan for the school on Powell Street at its public Board meeting scheduled for April 27 (subject to change). A notice will be issued to all stakeholders regarding any decision following the public meeting.
Once it has been determined who will attend the school and the grade/program configuration of the school, the Board will give the facility a new name.
