At the conclusion of its first year of operation, Summit Trails Online High School will celebrate the achievement of its first graduating class on May 25.
“As a school community, we are so proud to mark this milestone together with the Class of 2022,” said Principal, Dave Smith. “Our senior class has been instrumental in forming the identity and community of this new school, and we are excited to see what other great things are in store for these Grade 12 students.”
Summit Trails is one of two online schools opened by Rocky View Schools (RVS) in September 2021. There are 65 students from across the division graduating from the school this year.
The school’s graduation ceremony will be held at Genesis Place in Airdrie at 6:30 p.m. A link to a live stream of the ceremony will be located on the homepage of rvsonline-hs.rockyview.ab.ca.
The ceremony will include special live music by Bella Vita Strings and remarks by valedictorian Heather Beckett.
“Congratulations to Summit Trails’ first graduating class,” said Superintendent of Schools, Greg Luterbach. “Completing high school is a significant step in the journey of a life-long learner. RVS celebrates these students’ accomplishments and thanks them for helping to shape a new school culture and blazing a path for future Summit Trails graduates. On behalf of RVS, we wish you continued success in the next chapter of life.”
The school hopes to see even larger graduating classes in future years as it expands to students across the province.
