Rocky View Schools’ 2023-2026 Capital Plan priorities include an urgent request to the provincial government for additional student spaces. The Board of Trustees approved the priorities at its March 24 regular meeting.
RVS’ student population grows by about 750 to 1,000 students annually; these students could fill one to two new schools each year. Top priorities in RVS’ Capital Plan are new elementary schools in Airdrie and Cochrane, a new Kindergarten to Grade 9 school in Chestermere and a new high school in Airdrie.
School divisions across Alberta annually submit a three-year capital plan describing their need for new schools, additions and modernizations. The Government of Alberta selects which projects proceed and funds these projects. RVS’ Capital Plan will now be submitted to the Province for consideration.
